Independent media agency Horizon Media has hired Robert Jenkyn as president for Canada, replacing EVP general manager Kevin Kivi, who is returning to Australia for family reasons.

Jenkyn was most recently CEO at Media Experts, where he spent 13 years over two different stints. He is well-known and respected across the industry, having also been a board member of Vividata and the ICA before that.

The early part of his 30-year career was in traditional newspapers before moving into digitally focused roles around the turn of the century. Between his time at Media Experts, Jenkyn also spent almost two years at Microsoft and was managing director at The Globe and Mail.

IPG named Karel Wegert CEO of Media Experts last spring, following the departure of Jenkyn.

“Robert's appointment marks an exciting chapter for Horizon Media Canada,” said Bill Koenigsberg, president, CEO, and founder of Horizon Media, in a release. “His extensive experience and leadership in the industry will undoubtedly drive our Canadian operations to new heights, bringing innovative solutions to our clients and reinforcing our commitment to excellence.”

Horizon credits Jenkyn with leading Media Experts “transformation into a data-driven, client-centric media agency.”

Jenkyn officially begins his new role March 18, and Horizon said no other senior leadership changes were being made.

“With a focus on innovation, collaboration, and client-centric solutions, I am confident that together, we will drive growth and deliver unparalleled value to our clients,” said Jenkyn. “I look forward to working closely with our talented team and impressive roster of client partners to capitalize on new opportunities and further solidify Horizon Media's position as a market leader.”

Horizon employs 2,400 people across its offices in New York, L.A., Toronto, and Edmonton.
