Karen Hyman Joins Angry Butterfly To Lead Porsche Business

After a year of strong growth, the agency headcount has grown to 45, while Bernice (Bee) Lo and Adam Notzl-Keyser were both also promoted to ECDs.

After a break-out 2023 for Angry Butterfly, the Toronto creative agency has added five new staff and promoted three others to kickstart the new year.

After winning Porsche in the fall, the agency hired Karen Hyman to lead the business late last year. Hyman was previously general manager of Spark 44, the Accenture agency created to manage the Land Rover business.

“Her years of luxury automotive experience, combined with an innate ability to connect and bring teams together, is a perfect fit for Angry Butterfly,” said Graham Candy, partner and CSO.

Along with Hyman, the agency added strategist Roman Sidorov; art director Ben LeDrew; copywriter Lorn Williams; and motion designer Hayley Walsh. The agency starts the new year with a total of 45 staff.

“These are new-age creative and strategic thinkers who can straddle different skill sets with ease,” said Erin Kawalecki, partner and CCO. “I’m always so impressed by people who approach life with the attitude of ‘If I don’t know how, I’ll just learn.’” It makes the thinking more innovative and the experience more fun, and all of our new hires fit that bill.”

Meanwhile, Bernice (Bee) Lo and Adam Notzl-Keyser have been promoted to executive creative directors after joining the agency a year ago.

"Bee and Adam have made a huge impact, not just in the creative department, but to our agency culture,” said Kawalecki. “They have a natural ability to lead clients and simultaneously guide our teams, which has us all so excited for what’s to come in 2024.”

Finally, with the agency’s media business growing along with the rest of the agency, Shubham Vijan has been promoted to media director to lead the media business.
